The Department of Interior is accepting public comment on whether to repeal several harmful Obama-era regulations designed to destroy American coal. One of the critical rules to be rescinded is the Coal Valuation Rule. This rule sought to stop coal mining on federal land by completely rewriting the process for coal valuation that had been in place for decades and threatened to make coal production uneconomic. That coal, which delivers a billion dollars a year in royalty revenue, delivers on average 40 cents of every dollar sold in local, state, and federal taxes and fees to the American people, making it one of the highest taxed commodities in the world.
We hope you will take a moment to submit a comment supporting the repeal of these harmful regulations. The process is simple: just go to PowderRiverCoal.org, enter your information, and write a comment of your own or submit the comments provided. Once you hit submit your comment will be sent directly to the Office of Natural Resource Revenue with the Department of Interior.
Please submit your comment before the deadline on May 4th, 2017.
Thank you for your attention to this important issue.
